Yep, bad cord, or possibly failed element. It could short out. This is why they recommend a GFCI.

I let mine go for a while until I got a real nice shock opening the hood one morning.
Ongoing process, but moved into the new house in October, got the shop built around Thanksgiving, and got the lift installed today. Stress tested it with the '85 F-250 6.9. Merry Christmas indeed.

For the continuation of my post from yesterday. The repaired water line didn't leak so now I have water in my house again.
I drove my truck down to the City Shop and picked up a little bit of gravel to put underneath the new part on my water line. One picture shows the biggest issue. The plastic tube goes around the water meter. The hydrant was an inch to the left of the tube (using the picture as direction reference). The splice that removed the "T" to the hydrant is right underneath the left side of the tube. The new piece of PVC was roughly 16" long between the splice and the slip joint "T" that fed the sprinkler system. The water meter is about 6" to the right of the left side of the tube. All of that crap plus the thin wall 8" PVC that protected the sprinkler feed line was in a space of about 2'! WHO DOES THAT KIND OF THING? That's just too much BS in too close of a space so there's no more hydrant. I have to replumb the entire house so I'm going to install a spigot when I do. I had maybe 45 minutes of light left when I got home from work and I had a friend who kept texting me so I got maybe half of the hole filled in. That's good enough to keep it from freezing tonight and I can finish the job tomorrow in broad daylight. I even included a picture of the cause of the fountain that was in my yard yesterday. Edit. I forgot to mention that the hydrant and sprinkler system feed were both in line between the water meter and my house. Again, STUPID!!!

Freeze? What's that?
I just tested some lawn sprinkler valves by twisting the solenoids. They both came on and didn't turn off. They're pooched. So I turned off the shut off right there that's meant for shutting ALL the water off. Nope. Some genius tied them in upstream so I had to shut off the city meter. Who does that?
How's this relate to our trucks? If I had my truck with me I would have had some sort of tool to turn the city valve.

I'm a little late to the party, but I call B.S.
Aside from one day I needed to plow some snow, my truck's been plugged in since early October without running........
Crane truck gets plugged in from October 1 - April 15 every year no matter the weather, and it doesn't get started in that entire time.......
I'm thinking he had too small a cord, cheap electric cords are 14ga, only rated for 15amps maximum regardless of the length.
I don't have a cord smaller than 12ga, most are 10ga, a few are 8ga, one is 4ga.

I can manage most of them that mirror was a metallic squeak, think like the wear bar on a brake pad tapping along on a warped rotor... only sounding like it was IN the cab. Yeah can't deal with that lol. I'm trying to check them off little by little.
The only other really irritating ones are sounds like something loose in the dash (darn Florida heat is NOT friendly to plastic) and the front panel on the cap/topper. I actually have a complete spare red dash I may swap in the spring. I'm thinking I'll create a brace somehow on the front of the cap and rivet the front panel to it so it can't pop/rattle anymore. I was going to rivet it to the frame but I can't do that without taking it off the truck completely.

I am drooling. That's a beautiful shop and the lift of my dreams, enjoy! I started on a project like this last spring before bigger issues took over. I had the survey done and applied for permit and got denied because even tho I have 6 acres I need a variance to build anything over 800 sq foot. Have to jump thru township hoops next.
So far all I have is some stakes in the ground where it'll be, but hopefully some time this year.

Found the when the valve cover bolt and spreader do not make it to the floor secret spot, between the front crossmember and the power steering cooler lines.

Well my 93 IDIT dually has been really hard to start of late, wait light would go right out so had time to today to work on it. Two bad GPs figured as much. put a new set of Motorcraft ones even though the other good ones had a good reading. Then change out the GP harness, got a new one from Wes. Put a check valve in fuel line , also from Wes. Starts right up now like it should. Looked at the battery age , June of 03, probably jinx myself now.

Here's a crazy thought. Maybe you could build multiple small buildings and have them OK'd. After that, get a permit to connect them. Into one large one. Just a thought? I guess it would still be jumping through hoops, but might work.
