The clutch is thermal. It doesn't care how fast it's going per se. All it cares is if the bimetallic strip on the front is expanding to engage the clutch. Air flow on the highway should cool it and let it disengage but if it's staying hot, the clutch should stay in.

X2 on a real gauge as without it you are guessing and if the harness has a short to ground somewhere, it will peg the gauge I believe. It will also keep you from getting it that hot because you can watch it closer until you sort this.

There is also a fan clutch mod out there that will lock up the fan sooner.

Well I went to visit IDIoit and my timing was off about 12 degrees. Went from -3 to 9.

He was really helpful and I really enjoyed seeing his crazy and amazing projects in person.

After that trip I flushed my cooling system again and it's getting a lot cleaner. I also turned up my IP. YES I HAVE A PYROMETER AND BOOST GUAGE.

Anyway all I can say is wow. The timing helped a lot. But after turning up the IP I'm finally getting a touch of smoke, I wasn't getting any before, and the truck feels a ton more responsive.

I'm getting a decent 5-7 lbs boost on my new 0-15 guage which seems about what I'd expect.

Pretty soon I'm going to tow my trailer again and see if I've beat my overheat problem.

I'll update you guys soon.

Thanks fir the support, encouragement and advice.

Finished the 38 gallon gas tank swap today. Extended the pick up and extended the float. Also shortened the long t case shifter from my e40d so it will hopefully work with my zf5.

So I'm installing a 38 gallon tank in my truck too, but I have a question. Where did you lengthen the pick-up tube? The instructions tell you to do it just inside the tank, but on a diesel it looks like you could just add the tube to the end of the pickup tube itself?

Yeah instructions look weird. I used the piece of tube provided. I merely cut the original tube and soldered in the provided extension. Then I took a piece of coat hanger and welded that to extend the float arm for fuel level.

It's pretty simple overall.

So it appears my power steering pump is going out on me.... looks like I'm gonna get a new one.

Since I have all the hydroboost stuff lying around I may as well get the hydroboost pump! Upgrade time.

Well I haven’t posted on here in almost 2 years. Lol. The builds still going! I drive it for almost a year as a flatbed. Then I started posting on the oil burners Facebook feed or idi group. Anyway I decided to take a break from Facebook so here we are.

I eventually wanted more room so I cut the cab up and tacked on an extended cab so now it’s my f350megacrew project. I’m finalizing body work and getting ready to paint soon.

Now I’m basically tearing back down for paint and bondo etc. but stopped to change the mirrors. Hopefully she will be done within a month.

It’s a pain. The back of the crew roof drops off while the roof section from the extended cab is flatter. No way around lots of filler. But I managed to get the drip rails pretty straight. I doubt it will be too noticeable when it’s done.
