    inputs to control turbo

when you are saying pneumatic are you referring to simply using boost to open/close the vanes. This would essentially turn the vanes into a wastegate. If I am understanding arduino correctly it would simply be a microprocessor that would replace the pcm and I would have to write my own...

    inputs to control turbo

Been gone for a while. I have previously been in the idi forum. I have traded the idi to my dad for a 92 12 valve. I have also recently bought an 04 4x4 crewcab 6.0. I eventually plan to swap the 5.9 into the 04. When I do I was thinking why not go vgt on the 12 valve. I will already have...

    Fuel mileage

a turbo will not increase mpg, your right foot determines mpg, mine averages around 14 or 15 mixed hwy and city, highest was 21 doing a constant 55 down the highway with about 1200 lbs in the bed, worst has been 9 towing a D3 dozer and a 580E backhoe. it gets about 13-14 down the highway at 70...

    Turbo installed

I have my pump up 3 flats if I remember right, did it when it was na, if I was pulling a light load when na in 5th and came to the slight hint of a hill more pedal would only net pissed off drivers behind me and lower mpgs, now with the same load and the same hill I can floor it at the bottom...

    Stop, filter time

wix 34417 fuel filter is one piece with a drain integrated into it so you dont have to deal with multiple pieces to the fuel filter. fl1995 oil filter and you will need approx 11 quarts to refill, I always add 10 and wait a sec then check.

    Italian Tuneup

Im a firm believer that diesel engines are meant to work. If you baby it around carbon buildup will happen. I run my truck pretty hard fairly regular. Is it good for it... idk no problems to report so far.

    So let's talk gears

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html If I got everything correct 4.10 would put you at 1850 rpm at 70, imo that is a little low for powerband and pulling but would make for some good mileage 4.30's would make it around 2000 at 70 4.56's would put it around 2100 at 70 I would say...

diesel run away tonight while going down the road

chuffing on a cold engine is more than likely lifters that arent fully pumped up yet. Mine actually does it pretty bad on cold start but I havent worried about it to much

Ok guys I have been having a little trouble with my gps On the first turn of the key of the day the glow plugs do not cycle. after it is started and ran for a few minutes I can turn it off and turn the key to on and the gps cycle normally. AIR! new strange symptom(s)...

I can say that I know of several idi's with over 200k on them and no ip replacement, are they loosing a little performance by then... maybe, but I wouldnt immediately blame the ip. I have 130k and 23 years on mine and it does fine

    Coldstartadvance.help me trick my truck

crack in manifold will not affect the way it idles. either idle set to low or air in fuel lines, need more info on what exactly the truck does, gps cycle fine? does it fire right up or does it sputter, I just put a turbo on mine and it makes zero boost at idle and zero boost driving like a...

    Navistar 6.9L boost limits.

I have said in many other threads that my tdi has convinced me that if I were to go for a custom turbo setup I would never try to cram 2 much less 3 turbos in an engine bay but rather go with one vgt turbo that can function the same as those 2 or 3

    permagrin enable

I really dont want to much more fuel, I dont have a haze at all at full boost, slight haze out of boost but not lugging, that is not the heaviest load I pull by far and I would like to leave some room for error because my dad doesnt believe in paying attention to gauges and since I borrow his...

IP timing / turning up pump

I know you said you tow pretty regularly so I would hook on to the load and set the fuel by the load, try to find the hardest pull around and set it where you are comfortable on that pull, but yes timing will affect egts, power, mileage, everything pretty much

    permagrin enable

well hooked onto my 16 ft lowboy and loaded the toyota up, egts maxed at 900 and boost at 7, cruising at 70 got about 650 on pyro and 5 psi

    permagrin enable

yeah I will probably leave it be until I do some good towing, if I am not happy with it towing I will turn it up but I think around 10 or 12 is all I want. got a 600 mile round trip towing the toyota down and the vw back this next week so we will see how I like it.

    permagrin enable

well just drove the idi for the first time since turning it into a project about a year ago. I repaired core support, body lift, redid the whole interior besides carpet (still looking for off road carpet made to fit), added an ats 093 turbo, coolant filter, and several other little things I...

throttle cable routing with 093 turbo

Buttoning up on the ford from turbo, coolant filter and interior refreshen project and about the only thing I have left is a few small wiring additions, door panel installation, and amp/subs. I was glancing through the engine bay today and saw that I had not reconnected my throttle cable. I...
