So a local shop did my ball joints and cracked the service plate on my tranny. Empty of fluid by the time I got home, hope the tranny isn't toasted. Only the plate looks bent can I get replacements??

Gaskets used to be available and probably still are. I do agree with Nero and think that RTV would work as well as a gasket.

They do have gaskets, but like others said I’m sure RTV would work fine. If you buy one it will probably come with a gasket

Hey, just a thought here about rtv only.......ZF-5s require ATF.....which typically doesn't agree with silicones. Id do both maybe. If you can't easily find a gasket, that's a pretty easy one to make from a roll of gasket material.

Edit: It learned that you don't use sealants on automatic transmissions....it might be because of heat and pressure on them, but it could be the fluid itself.....I can't remember.

The other secret with rtv is letting it fully cure on a clean surface and it should never leak. Most failure occurs either not getting it clean enough, or not waiting the cure time.
