Would a bad throttle cable make the TPS throw a code

Pretty much in the title :)
But the red plastic piece, in the spring, that sits over the black cable housing is in a couple of pieces.
When I was trying to test TPS through the range the cable bent in half at the point where the two aforementioned plastic pieces met.....
Mind you the pedal pulls it as opposed to me in the front of the motor pushing it. Unlesssss I'm doing something wrong to mimic throttle action while in the motor not in the truck.

No it shouldn't affect it at all. If you're unsure, just disconnect it from your pump.
