If $9500 is too much, maybe this one will make you feel better.

It`s insane the prices people are asking for these trucks :hail

A little sampling what`s out here on the west coast.

Not true cost of living is cheaper here in Nevada, maybe a bit less than kommie land.
Diesel in Tahoe is $5.00 +-, Reno is almost like Calif.
Down here $2.89 cheapest and Chevron is $3.50.

that '89 Flatbed in SLO is right near me. I saw that listing the other night and started laughing. couldnt believe he was asking that much and saying how rare his truck was. but I will say this most of those trucks you posted are very clean and at least the body and interior are well taken care of. but yes prices on everything are getting out of hand. gas, groceries, building supplies, and trucks all have shot up this last year and especially the last couple months.

It's sad to say, but I'll bet that in a few more years, a large percentage of our trucks will be getting listed for prices not too far off from the $9500 mark. As the new vehicle prices keep going up (and quality goes down as far as I'm concerned), the used market will follow. I really don't want to pay for tags and insurance on three trucks and a motorcycle, but I'm really thinking of holding onto the Red Truck after the Ex Wife is running and driving instead of selling it like I was planning to originally.

The summer of 2019 I was insulating and putting up 7/16 chip board in my shop. long wall is 30ft and 18ft
on the ends. one end has the big door, so only one panel there. the price then was $7.65 for each one.

last summer I was going to do the other wall, and the price jumped to $14 and up. well that ain`t going to happen, I`ll wait for a price drop. Gone up steadly.

Was at HD two nights ago and the price is now $55.56 each. Going to be a long wait.

oh yeah I am a GC. I know all about the lumber increases, but its not just the lumber. all building materials have jumped up. just a couple weeks ago literally overnight Romex jumped 30%!! if you dont have price increases written into your contract these jumps will eat up all your profit and then some.

I was talking to the lumber guys and what they say is the biggest driver in the costs, is not a shortage of lumber, because there is no shortage, but the cost of oil. Since the Biden addmin has shut down the pipeline, all permits for drilling on federal land and a bunch of other stuff to cut back the oil industry, it has really driven anything derived from oil through the roof. That why OSB and Plywood have jumped more than dimensional lumber. The glue used in the sheet goods is oil based. just like the plastic coating on romex. Anyway a little off topic sorry OP.

also if you see a truck down around San Luis Obispo that you like, I would be more than willing to look at it for you. its still California, and an expensive area at that, but every once in a while things pop up.

I can understand this perfectly. I want to put an addition on one side of my garage, but it's not going to happen for quite a while at this rate. Last Friday, I paid $7.25 each for 8' 2x4's at Home Depot. It was more than I wanted to pay, but not as bad as I was afraid it was going to be.

Yup, it's just nuts. Last time I checked, OSB plywood was $59. a sheet.

And to think, everyone was mad 15-16 years ago when it jumped up to $14.... I was told it was a result of demand spike from Hurricane Katrina at the time, although I don't really know how accurate that was.

I heard the same regarding oil prices, but I don't believe it. Crude is trading 50+ bucks a barrel, which is high compared to the last 4 years, but it's not astronomical, and doesn't warrant the price increase we're seeing. When oil was 100+ a barrel 6 years ago, osb wasn't that expensive, neither was romex or anything else petroleum based.

Demand is large right now, and thanks to covid the stockpiles have fallen short. But even with all of that, something else is at work here, and I've got a feeling we're being gouged by the manufacturers.

We have to replace a bunch of sheathing due to moisture damage on our house. Two years ago while building my shed it was $12 a sheet. A month ago when I checked it was $35. When I actually bought it last week I paid $42 per sheet. I was considering just tearing down all the tar board on my house and doing spray foam and new osb sheathing, but I’d go broke. Dad thought it might be due to high demand from boarding up windows and such, but there doesn’t seem to be a shortage of it, just expensive.

I was too scared to look at that. really, I hate Home Depot myself. I prefer to drive an extra half hour and go to Menard's. I always save enough to more than pay for the extra fuel that I use. I haven't gone back since I was escorted to the front door for not covering my face last summer so if I HAVE to have something, I go to Home Depot.

Yeah, I completely agree about home depot. We don't have any Menards up here, but as far as "hardware" stores, the only local ones are lowes and home depot. There is a true value on the other side of town that I prefer to go to for odds and ends.I find home depot to have questionable lumber but a better layout, and lowes to have better quality lumber but no matter how many times I go there, I find myself stranded and immediately everyone disappears, lol. That is the nice part about the smaller stores like true value and Ace. They are basic and most of the time the staff is helpful, but they can be more expensive than home depot.

I completely agree about Ace and True Value. I've only been a Lowe's store a few times. I didn't find it to be too bad, but it may vary by location.

Yeah, you're probably right. I have been in other Lowe's that weren't so bad, but I always find myself lost in stores, so it could just be me. That's why I like the smaller store, less places for me to wonder off to , and less things I bring home with me:bail.

Our Lowe’s is pretty good as far as helpful staff. Also, if you can find a product on their website it will show you what aisle and bay it is in the store of your choosing.

Our menards is hopeless if you need help. They usually reply that it’s not in their department and check with someone in a different department. Then they send you back to where you started.
