I'm doing some body work and I have leak at the top center of the windshield, should I just take it to glass shop and have it resealed or try my luck with some polyurethane caulk.

If you try it yourself, only use windshield adhesive. It was made for this and is what works best. You can buy it over the counter at a parts store. At least I did so you should be able to as well.

I had rust and dirt. Glass shop isn't going to want to clean and repair the cab opening. I'm struggling with same issue. Would like to do it here so I can repair the cab (wire brush, primer and paint), but not sure I can lift the window in. They have a tool that holds the glass while they get everything lined up. Maybe with a friend and big suction cup handles? Never done it.

Caught mine sooner. I had a glass shop try sealing the upper edge of the windshield but it still leaked. Next I had the glass shop remove the windshield (it cracked during removal as expected) - drove the truck home and wire-wheeled the channel which was rusted but not yet perforated. Applied POR15 liberally, allowed it to dry for a day or two, then had a new glass installed. The aluminum trim got boogered up during the process and a few clips didn't hold... so supplied the trim and hardware (available from LMC) for the same shop to install that too. Two years later there are no leaks.

The friend is needed, but the suction cups aren't. I've helped install several windshields where I work, including mine. We always grabbed them with our hands.

Several years ago, I had Safe-Lite in Carson City cut out the
Windshield. Then tape it in and drove home the 25 miles.
Threw some Moving Blankets on the Hood, and my Wife and I removed the Windshield and set it aside.
It does take 2 people to lift it off.

I covered the interior with Tarps, worked off the hood with every type Grinder, Wire Wheel, Needle Scaler etc... to get the area clean as I could get it down to bare metal.

Someone is going to bring up "hey, if you are crawling around the Hood, you are going to dent it." Well that is probably true, but mine was dented anyway, and I had a good Hood I threw on later.

If you use POR, you are to use phosphoric Acid to etch the metal.
Then wipe it down with a wet rag when it dries. Then throw on the POR.

Replaced the Glass and drove back to town and had a new one installed. It was $175 at the time.
Last fall something hit the Windshield at the top edge above where
the review Mirror is glued on, but at the time just heard the bang not knowing what/where the hit was.
2 days later a little star crack showed up on the edge of the glass, and it slowly cracked down to the Review Mirror and has stopped.

Stopped by the Glass shop, and a new glass was $225.
Don`t have any leaks and the crack has stopped.....so far....
