FWIW I have $1300'ish into the head work on my 7.3. I suppose it all depends on what you start out w/ in terms of a engine to rebuild. $2k budget seems much to small IMO.
Good move with the sleeving. Not only does that nip the cavitation in the bud, but most of the time when one cylinder is sleeved the one next to it becomes oblonged. Sleeving all cylinders on one side usually is recommended. Good read War_Wagon......
