The tanks are not an aftermarket item in case you want to rebuild the radiator. If the core is junk, take off the tanks and scrap the core. You can always use the tanks later if you need to.

That's a good idea. I'm pretty sure the core is junk but the tanks are in good shape. I think I will remove the tanks, scrap the core for a little money and see what a radiator shop would charge me to put my tanks on another core. If it is not too much, then I could possible sell the radiator as a recored one.

If I was to do that...anybody have a clue as to what I should ask for it...or maybe just sell it to someone at cost if they really need one but can't really afford new...Just thinking...

To save yourself some time, money and energy, call the rad shop first. They figure the core scrap value into the price of rebuilding the radiator. It is usually about $3-500 for these big mothers.

I had mine recored using the tanks. Cost was under $500 and I got a core identical to the stock one. Many of the aftermarket units have fewer cores and less fin density.
