What SCA for what coolant

Hello,

Ok, rooking question here. I was looking for test strips to test my SCAs after reading up on them care of coolant for my idi. However, I dont know what type of coolant is in the truck as I have not changed it since it was purchased (and it is very clean by looking at it). It is green I believe, is all green coolant that same, if so, what type would that be? What test strips from NAPA should I get?

There are two types of SCA, those being DCA-2 and DCA-4

The stuff napa sells is DCA-2 and they have a 3 way test strip to go along with it.

The BEST thing to do is to flush your cooling system and put what YOU KNOW is in there. Fluid maintenance is always a top priority on any new to you vehicle purchase, regardless of what it is. While your at it, through a coolant filter on there. The truck will give you a better service life if you proactively do this, rather than wait until you have to.

When i bought my truck ,It had the green stuff , I flushed it with distilled water multiple time and added Fleet Charge SCA Antifreeze (Pink) which comes already charged with SCA

No not all green is the same. The stuff our trucks came with contained silicates. Many of todays coolants are green but are a long life coolant similar to Dexcool. IMO Dexcool does not belong anywhere near our trucks.

The Fleet Charge (pink) stuff is decent, and comes with DCA2 added. You still need to replenish the SCA's and have test strips though.

Exactly. This is One of the most overlooked thing about coolant that have sca's "already" added. Most think that no further checking is required. I believe it also takes different test strips.
