I ordered this cheap seat before I removed anything because I thought I was going to have to drill it, it's pretty neat though, it has a bunch of different sized "guides" to center the drill bit, provided it's broken off below the surface and somewhat flat. Definitely worth $19, it also has some hammer in extractors but I wouldn't really trust them. I had planned on using them with left hand drill bits

Hahaha I do the same. I just didn't have the down time this time since my other one got destroyed. I tried to get a drill and I was like ****... I'm gonna have to pull this head and my machinist is out at the grand canyon until September in his rv. I was seriously looking at psd Longblocks lol

I just heard this one the other day.
If it's broke off below surface, find a pipe that'll fit the hole and stick weld it.
Heard it works. Lol

I did this with a 110v Flux welder, it's all I could get in there. I used a grade 8 nut first, it melted instantly. The cheapo grade 5 worked great. It was atleast an 1/8 almost a 1/4 below head surface

Yeah, I know the nut version works. First I'd heard about sticking a pipe in the hole, shoving the rod in and letting er eat.

I love tig, I don't think I could have gotten it in there with the engine and steering shaft in place. I've tig welded some really rusted out panels to patch them. The precise heat control is what I like. I only have a DC tig though so no aluminum

so I took sunday off and played with the kids, and cleaned the garage.
my oldest helped me put my engine into my 64 tempo v-drive flatty.

today I got the 1990 truck prepped.
valve cover made (relocate the GPC)
turbo and down pipe installed.
the UP pipe was designed for a manual T-19 trans, and is playing hell with the e4od.

with work today, I was unable to finish it (12 oz curls included)

had to pull dipstick tube and shifter linkage
the owner said he would do these mods.

got the wiring harness hangin out of the truck ready to modify.
its coming, 4 hours today is all the time I had.
hope to have it done tomorrow!

ok, so a first gen banks is not relly ment for an E4OD.
but with a chop of the up pipe, a twist of the down pipe, a kink of the dipstick,
a deletion of the air box, a relocation of the GPC, and a relocation of the CDR
its in like flin.

holy blow by on this engine.
washes hands of it.
im done.
glad I sold that *******

Mostly what happens after welding a nut to a broken bolt is the heat from welding breaks loose the bolt. Once you shock the broken bolt it usually is easy to remove.
