I’m posting this more or less because through the reading I’ve done on here I haven’t been able to collect a positive answer with numbers. The type4 logger camshaft for 6.9/7.3idis, is it worth putting in a n/a otherwise stock 6.9? Does it make a noticeable difference in the n/a configuration? Moneys not a concern nor is time or ease. I just want to know if my understanding of the camshafts purpose is correct. From the reading I’ve done it should increase torque and HP by some degree but I haven’t seen number nor have I read anything in an n/a Build where the person was able to to say definitively “yes it made a noticeable difference” largely because most people are sensible unlike myself and they strap a turbo on and aren’t able to say if the cam made a difference because the turbo definitely does. I’d like to keep my motor n/a for longevity so that’s why I’m curious. I’m not sure if Russ is active on here any more but if you are I’d love to pick your brain on the matter.

Russ is no longer with us. I believe his business is being run by family members.
I might be wrong, but I thought that Oregon Camshaft (or something close) was selling his cams now.

Yes. It made a noticeable difference in mine. That was with headers and ported heads, but it was the best running N/A IDI that I've come across. Unfortunately, I was stupid and used high mileage heads and dropped a valve shortly after. My current engine had WAAAY too much surfaced off of the heads by a "competent machinist". So much that I had to overhaul the engine with decompressed pistons in order to not have pistons and valves hitting. I've since sold the cam. Sometimes I regret it, other times not. If you do use Russ's spec'd cams, be sure to check your valve clearances before you button the engine back up. Not enough clearance will result in piston/valve contact.

If you dig DEEP into the archives you will find the idi dyno days at the get to gethers back east.

I don't have much information about it, sorry.
Word was Russ' for torque
Justin' for hp

I have 2. 1 in a n/a and 1 with a Banks turbo.
Yes there is a slight difference, but it's minimal and I wouldn't go that deep into the engine to install one, unless I was in that deep anyways.

I have an extra loggers cam I bought and didn’t end up using. I’ll say this. It ran great na and runs amazing with boost as well.
Russ’s logger cam was designed for jus t that loggers with service trucks. He pulled one outa the woods that ran a little too good
