The above posting is very true about when the psd came out and what it had for a trans. No slushboxs were offered in 94 for the psd.. Only the ZF 5 speed. And here I thought you were getting an idi... Oh well.. nice score anyway. Be careful under the valve covers. Those electronic injecters are powered by 120 volts and will shock the u no wat out of you...:angel:

I thought it was a IDI also from lookin at the pics on the ad. Did the first few of these trucks with a PSD come with the IDI turbo badge 'Turbo Diesel' under the F350 on the side? I thought this should have the 'Powerstroke Diesel' badge, but being one of the first ones maybe not...

I already have a PSD in my '90 sig truck so somewhat familiar with em already, also having owned one before that.

As for the rough running issue, if I was to dump a full bottle of ATF in the tank and try running it like that for 50 miles or so to try n clean everything out, might that unstick an injector if that is the issue??

Im goin to get this beast either Wednesday or Thursday this week so will get some pics to post here. BTW...I like being a theif in this way - one mans junk is another mans treasure :)

I believe the PSD babges came out in 95 or 96. My 94 psd came with the turbo diesel badges. The blue smoke is probably just the oil so you better get the turbo checked out. As far as the rough running, I'm sure you know about the under valve cover harness problems with these.

I'm not sure which years were the worst. I've read about it being pretty common. With the high draw of the glow plugs and high current to the injectors causes the connector in the valve cover to melt. Just unplug the harness and look at both ends. Doing a quick search could probably explain it better than me though.

I did a lil searching today and found a Garrett rebuild kit for about $150...comes with everything except the wheel, but thats only another $80 if it looks bad. If I was to maybe just replace the turbo all together, what would be a good one other then a stock replacement? Preferably something that will use the same pedestal...

I'm not sure of which ones are an exact fit. But if it were me I'd go for one of the vgt turbos. Or at least the waste gated turbo from the super duties. I think I heard the stock turbo is good for about 500hp.

VGT= variable geometry turbo(like what the 6.0L psd has). from what i have read if you are really wanting to upgrade turbos, skip the work on the superduty turbo swap and get a T4 mount system. i guess you will be money and performance ahead in the long run.

WOW! Thats alotta good info there!! After lookin at the price for all that its more then double what I paid for the truck lol...so Im thinkin I might just go with an OEM turbo if I cant rebuild the one in there now...
