Turbo Insulation

How important is the insulation on the up pipe and down pipe? It seems like I don't see it often. It looks cleaner and is easier to work on without it.

Wrapping the uppipe helps with slightly quicker spoiling of the turbo, the down pipe I would guess keeps some heat out of the engine bay. I wrapped my uppipe it's seems the benifit me some with quicker spoiling but I didn't wrap the down pipe I didn't foresee much benifit myself in doing it. Neither are technically necessary a lot don't wrap either of them.

I've wrapped all the hot side plumbing going into and out of the turbo. From the manifolds to the turbine. Have a turbine blanket on there too. Wrapped the downpipe as well. Keeps the heat in and away from my wires, hoses, compressor, and blah blah blah. I can tell ya when I had banks turbos on both my IDI's, the wrapped plumping spooled the turbo quicker on the crew cab than the unwrapped stuff on the F250.

Keep everything wrapped when I swapped the GT3788R on the crew cab. Still spools quicker than the Banks in the F250 and that Garrett is a heck of a lot bigger.

Are you installing one? If i were installing a kit I would wrap it.

I wrapped my cross over and up pipe while it was installed.

It's definitely not the best wrap job, because I couldn't get the header wrap as tight as I would like, but I do think that it helps.

I also had my exhaust elbow and down pipe ceramic coated to help keep the heat in

I decided to ceramic coat my up pipes,
I completely dislike the look of wraped pipe, but that's just me.
not to mention, if you wrap mild steel, it will rot out faster

I see many people say it will rot faster.
But what if you coated and wrapped?
Never seen factual evidence to support the theory either.
