That's the OK procedure. the BETTER procedure is pulling your driveshaft and securing it to the body or frame and tow from the front. A must if you have weight in the back. wheellift is OK but DO NOT SLING THE TRUCK from its butt end. Bed/cab damage is almost a certainty.

what tow cat is talking about is on a wrecker there is a sling that is on the boom that has the winch cables conected to it you use a j hook to hook onto the truck and then the chains off of the j hook to the sling you can pick the truck up that way but like tow cat said that is certain bed or cab damage. the only time I do this is if the truck has been wrecked in the back so bad that i cant wheel lift the front and dolly the rear tires to get them off of the ground. when I take them to the dealership I usually just use the wheel lift on the rear tires and secure the steering wheel so that it cant turn. I will only pull the shaft if we are going a long way with the truck.
