No... They should do it for free because we are keeping these trucks on the road..... Really... It depends on what method they are using. Some charge you for timing but they just listen the the sound of the motor... Thats not right... Do nothing and get paid for it... The luminosity probe method is a very tuff way of timing these motors. You need to pull # 1 glow plug... Install a lumiy probe and then set timing off the bright lite from combustion... Likely thats what they will do. The best method is the magnetic pickup off the dampner with the pluse pickup off the number one injection like. Much more acreate and easier to do... Once its all hooked up you start the motor and rev it up to 2000 rpm... The meter tells you down to one tenth of a degree what you have... No pointing a timing lite at the dampner...

It's $75 more than I charge. Too bad I'm such a nice guy. I probably would have made several thousand dollars by now if guys were paying that at the rallies.

Actually the last time I paid for timing it cost me $120.00 here in So. Ca. Now I have three differant timing meters. A Kent Moore Tach N Time... A Snapon MT1480 and a Rotunda meter. I use the tach n time most of the times. The Snapon is setup for lumiy timing at this time... I will be fabricating a pulse type probe for it.... The rotunda is both pulse and lumiy method.

Well I guess I'm screwed! I'm a broke medically retired cop that's still waiting for the state to start giving me my money. So 75.00 is 75.00 to much! Lol. I guess it'll just keep running like crap! Story of my life!

Well it runs great until I have to accelerate. When I accelerate hard it just gives up, hesitates, its like it just almost dies. And it has No power. I know people with 7.3 idis that have great power. Mine just tries to give up. Normal drining is good, very little smoke and then only when under acceleration.

For About twice that you can buy a ferret and with that and any advance type inductive automotive timing light , you can time the thing yourself and then you own the tool for the next time that you have to disturb the pump for some reason and need to re-time the thing

I might add, if you find yourself travelling toward Arkansas, you are welcome to drop by and we'll time the thing up for nothing, but that is a bit out of the way
