Did Cummins ever rebuild other brands of diesels? Or maybe it was just a diesel shop that normally specializes in goats... '79 it is not, '89 is possible but the front clip ain't correct for that model year either. At least he got the engine and trans info right.

It's a '80-'86 bodystyle. Door tag may be LATE '79, but it's not a true '79. I'm thinking the engine was rebuilt by Cummins since it's a IH 6.9 with either a 085 or 088 ATS turbo on it. Even if the truck was a LATE '79 and got the '80 bodystyle, that motor wasn't a factory option in that year becasue I think '83 (mid-late '83 I think) was the first year for the 6.9 IH diesel in the Fords. At least you can tell it runs because if you look at the pics, you can see the fan spinning (the other half pointed that out
