It is possible someone switched the plug ends and used the wrong switch as most part stores won’t have the diesel one and say the gas one fits all applications which is wrong.
When I converted my 95 460 truck over to diesel I used a gas switch as I couldn’t find a diesel one, later when I found the right switch I just depinned the gasser plug and popped the pins into the diesel plug and went on my way.
Does your old switch have a ford part #?
