Hello,
Just found another potential engine to replace my seized 7.3L turbo version. The donor is an 87 F-250 6.9L IDI N/A.

I would guess the exhaust will need to be revamped for the non-turbo set-up.

The engine is on the shop floor and has a bunch of new gaskets installed and other pieces still in the box. The injector pump is not installed, so it's going to need some love to get going again. The fellow that was rebuilding it got sick and passed away before he could finish, so there's a legacy here.

Does anyone know if an 87 6.9L is simply a drop-in replacement for a 93 7.3L or is there some mod's required?

Thanks for any pro tips!

Kelly in Big Lake.

Yes it is. Use the 6.9 flywheel and harmonic balancer, they are different balance points than the turbo engines.

Only mods would be if you were going to install a turbo.

Thanks Knuckle,
Thanks for the tip.

Great avator pic. I've been on the hunt for a Power Wagon myself.
