Cruise Shut Off/Hard Shift Question

Here lately I have had a strange occurance while driving along with the cruise on as suddenly it goes off and won't come back on even after pressing the ON button but not only that the trans start shifting REAL hard.As you go to stop it will like free wheel like it's in neutral and then engages. If you turn the key off and restart motor everything is fine like some sort of short or trans has it own brain, really strange.I have a Banks Trans Command on truck and don't know if anyone else has had this strange deal so I'm looking for a fix?...Any input appreciated?

Don't quite know what "no signature to guide us" means? The problem I've having is listed above and this is a new one to me as I've had this 94 IDI F-350 for about two years now and have had this happen two other times before?...My same type truck before this one did the same thing when I went to change the IP but quite when I put the old IP back on so I'm thinking it's something electrical?...Thanks

Your "signature" is a setting that most forum users use to list their truck and any modifications. It shows up every time you post without you having to remember.

Go to "user CP," on the top bar (there are eleven choices across the bar, user CP is the second from left), select "edit signature" on the left and tell us about your truck. That way any other problem you have, everyone will know that you are talking about a 94 f350, not a 1983 f250. Different systems and controls. Below this post is my signature, listing 3 trucks.

From the symptoms you have explained, it could be either the tach sensor or the VSS, (speedometer) both have to be working flawlessly to keep the cruise working and/or tranny from shifting erratically.

The VSS is on the rear diff. Check it for dirt and debris.

Check the wiring to the Banks stuff for damage. That will cause issues too.
