standard to auto transmission swap 1992 f250

Hi I am new to the board. I have a 1992 f250 7.3l idi with a 5 speed standard transmission. I would like to put a automatic from a 1994 f250 7.3l, both 4wd. Is the auto wiring harness and computer already in place on my truck, or would I have to move everything over along with the transmission. Any help would be appreciated.

You will have to move everything over. Also get the harness for the tranny/transfer case. There will be a sensor or two on the engine also. If you want to skip all that, you can buy a aftermarket controller to work the tranny, but it's at least $500 for it, and then you have to buy the wiring for it which is another couple hundred.

There is a better way to handle the wiring issue. Go with an aftermarket controller. They can be pricy, but in the end you will have a better shifting auto with less wiring issues.

You shouldn't have any problem offloading the 5 speed. This may be the first thread I've seen where the swap is from manual to auto, lol. You have the same vintage cabs so the swap should be easy as everything is there, no junkyard searching. Also I believe the driveshafts will need to go with the respective trans, I could be mistaken though. Best of luck with your endeavour.

No Goose, my ZF to C6 swap is already underway. I posted earlier about the wiring on my pedals.
