Speed sensor and tranny id

thanks guys ill check further mine is a 99.5 and that throws things off but get the same parts looking at a 2000 as i do a 99 so guess i have to spend a little more time under the truck to find it. wish i had pictures maybe i can find one of the tranny so i know what im looking at thanks again phil

Check the tail housing area of your transmission for sensor. Apparently if its a 4r100 transmission it could have the sensor in that area. It should be on top and they sometimes call it a OSS. (output shaft sensor) Is your truck 4x4?

thanks to all who replied, i got my brother to pull the code and it was the speed sensor. had to go to the dealer and give them the vin # to get the right part, the only sensor is the one in the diff. replaced it in ten minutes all is good. thanks again Phil
