Yeah...I've seen these before. I have a junk core in the garage, I just don't have the time/money to throw at a project like that right now. Never mind the guy who rejected it as a core completely dis assembled the thing before he sent it back to me and essentially threw all the parts in a bag. I won't be too angry as long as his rebuilt pump stays healthy.

Who wants to try? Any takers? I think I'd do it on a project pump, but not one that I needed to throw on the truck in a few days. I'd want to do it right at least a couple times before I was really playing for keeps so to speak.

Unfortunately there is nothing in that kit that will fix a worn advance plunger, which is one of the more common problems.

will this kit work on all 6.9/7.3 instead of just the newer ones?

That's a standard install kit for a 7.3. You can use it on a 6.9 as well, but the hose diameter is a little larger, and you might have to do a little extra clamping depending on what your return manifold in the back looks like. It's easier to put a 6.9 kit on a 7.3 then the other way around, although it can be done just fine.
