searching for ats093

hey guys, i have been looking for an ats093 turbo online with zero luck. I was wondering what you guys search for on ebay. Searching ats 093 has turned up an air filter all week.

Okay, I’ll give you some tips on finding truck parts.

eBay: widen your search, try “idi turbo” or even “ats turbo” and spend the time to look through the results most people won’t.

Craigslist: find a phone app that can do a state wide and nationwide search. I use CSmartforCraigslistPro. I search broad things like “idi” statewide and more specific things like “idi turbo” you’ll find many many adds for turbo kits for sale and if you message the sellers often times they are willing to ship the kit of you cover the costs.

Yeah anytime i search for ats turbo, i get 4000$ aurora kits. which years had the 093 turbo vs 088? was a banks sidewinder ever factory?

Limit your search to used then.

Correct. Ford ended up using a kit from ATS, but the 'factory' kits have a crushed down pipe.

No matter what you find - (wastegated) Banks, ATS or Ford Factory-spec kit, they will all do perfectly well with a maxed-out stock pump.

if you are looking for a hassle-free 093 kit with remaned center and new rubber parts, pm Typ4(Russ). It's not going to be cheap but a heckuva lot less aggravation on install.

AND one thing not mentioned often is that the "runs great" used kit is often nearly dead and you'll need a rebuild or new center housing anyway. Which makes Russ's stuff similarly priced, but like towcat said, without the hassle.

This exact thing happened to me. $800 used eBay kit and the turbo ran(5psi max) but the bearings were hosed. Ended up getting a CHRA from Justin at R&D as his place is near my route for work on Mondays. He said it was the worst side to side play he'd ever seen on a running turbo, and that it was junk and not rebuildable.
So that was another $600ish dollars plus $800= $1400 for a used factory Ford/ATS kit. Very, very lame. BTW i can't remember the price for R&D CHRA but mine cost 10% more because I live in WA and our sales tax is rediculous.
I have also purchased a few things from Russ, and he's a stand up guy that has a good product. Good shipping and tax-free(oregon).

Remember, though, if you buy it in person you can check the play. in and out play(pushing on the end of the shaft)... not so good.
Side to side play is OK, as long as it doesn't rub the side of the housing when it spins(Remember, these turbos ride on a layer of oil. That oil takes up the play).

if you are on facebook look up Mike R Green, he is in ford idi diesel enthusiasts 83-94. Also John Clungsten is in the same group. They tend to have kits available or know people who do.
I can tell you If i were in the market for a turbo kit, russ is the guy to go to. As said before, it removes any questions. New old stock kit, new up pipe castings, factory based kit, and he can do any modifications you want with prices starting at $1200. Heck a new old stock banks kit is $3000
