Do you have a pyro? Not sure if you have a turbo but a bull moose is a big pump.

I had the bull moose on with my 7.3. And I did not observe such high egts. I'm wondering if the timing was retarded, would I see higher egts

Well, gray is probably retarded timing. What does it sound like? Really clattery, or soft, smooth, almost like a gasser? Any missing as you rev it up?

It can go both ways. But generally (iirc) overly advanced is typically grey, overly retarded is black.

You can buy an insert with same thread, bore it out and braze it into the injector port. But you will have to pull the Head. Or you can exchange it out for another rebuilt head. If it were mine I would buy another head. Sorry for all your problem but I am sure you will have her up and running Soon. Good Luck
