im also kind of hating myself for doing this turbo thing now, as the project would be much closer to completion if i didnt have to mess with it..TBH...if i find a stock Up pipe kit...ill probably buy it if it pops up soon enough... i might be thinking crazy, but...might be saving myself alot of time and headache...this idea was great on paper lol but i have alooot of hours into what seems like nothing yet.
but..im also concerned if my turbo will even fit weith the stock up pipe flange location.

It's probably not a bad idea. If you hunt around and maybe even put up a WTB, you can probably find a kit less turbo or with turbo in need of rebuild. I bought a banks kit sans turbo because I liked the piping arangement better than the hypermax and it just happened to pop up. I'm hoping that will save me some time and headache putting that GT3788 on there. I know from Heath's experience I'm going to have to do some fab work to make it fit. I don't really know anything about the configs of the ATS or factory kits other than I assume they are similar to each other. You might be ahead to buy a complete kit and sell your turbo as rebuilt. :dunno

After i fitted the engine into the frame and put the cab back on yesterday im glad i am continuing with my custom setup. The headers wont work in another stock truck, but works for me becuase of the extra clearance I have. Today I figured my supply and return lines, this particular HX34 uses a 1/4" NPT oil in which i thought was a little strange, anyway pordered up a 12" section of black braided AN line with all the black fittings for 35 bucks got a 90 degree swivel up top, Feed port is the stock oil pressure location at the back of the block. There will be a T there which the oil pressure gaiuge is tapped nto as well. using a 1/2" ID hose for the drain back. This can be something ugly since it will be totally hidden from view anyway.

Today will work on the pedestal. My flex pipes wont be in till saturday and wont get a change to work on it on saturdya but im hoping to have the turbo hot piping wrapped up by end of the weekend.
So today is pedestal and engine mounts.

My closest point is about 1" away from the hot pipe to the cab where the "gas" pedal is. I will give this area a ton of extra heat coating and I intend to wrap the headers as well (in black of course ;). I hope it doesnt get hot in the summer!.

tbh, the engine mount siwll probably take me all day today. but they are a critical part to get done to continue with the project.

also move in day to my new permanant home with the diance is decemeber 18/19. sooo that is my hard deadline. I gotta do whatever it takes ot get it done..but theyres always more and more thing spopping up that get in the way! grr

Ya, figure this is easier and quicker and cheaper since i alreay had the mateial, basicaly the stock mount is bolted to the top plate, and i have some m14 gr8 bolts that will be welded to the bottom plate tru the holes. So its basicaly jat a spacer plate with the correct angle. i just hope i have the engine pretty much vertical, hard to position it with mysetup.
They will be boxed as well as right now theyre weak in the foreaft motion the engine would want to move upon accel/decel.

IMO, even without boxing, they will be stronger than your previous idea.
much more important than the easier, quicker, and cheaper cop-out lol

TOORBO!

even took the time to seperate the pipes and made my own merge collextor. Ots fugly but its smooth inside!
Left enough room that i can easily put a bigger charger on, i made it so the charger sits on the flange so its easy to mount and disnount.

HX 35 should max at 15-20 for normal idi rpms, depending on exducer trim.

Based on the photo it's a newer unit with 4" antisurge inlet

Have you fit that with the cab yet? It looks really far back. You may have fire wall issues. Hope not though. Looks good with the yellow.

i have alooot of space with my setup, but im going to test fit the engine again tomorrow to make sure. I have it right now so its easy to get the uppipes to it with minimum bends. wakin up early to double check this as these things make me nervous for sure.

Sounds good. With you fabbing your stuff, I'm sure you have a lot more room than stock. I'm sure you'll work it out.

i did end up having to change th emount location as the cold side was hitting the firewall. Should be good now, but will double check on tuesday, got some other cars to mainttain today.
yep welds looks ugly, damn flux but at least it burns in nicely. One side done, working on the log manifold for the other side currently.

is there another oil pressure port somewhere near the top of the enigne other than where the stock electric pressure sensor is tapped at the rear of the block? I am unruse if that location will be suitable for me.
