Well hammer fallen...new R n D turbo kit just up on the IDI FB page...woo hoo...

Nope...thats Not the hammer I am waiting for....it has still to be shown..and its a really BIG HUCKIN FAMMER so when it comes down be prepared for insanity in IDI ville

I see a finished Bronco engine but no turbo kit on the FB page...:dunno

I am not in the know, but if this BFH is what I think it is I might have to re-think my build. I'm not buying one more part or turning one more bolt until I find out...

He is doing that build NA just to see how much power he can get out of an NA engine. He wants to test his cam for NA guys on the dyno. Iirc he is going to add the turbo later.

He is doing his big build on his IH truck and it will have a p-pump as well. He is testing his Db4 more and perfecting it on Keith Olin's truck. There is a dyno thread on Keith's truck. I believe he has a S366 on it and is making some really nice power. Like 350/775 or so. He would have dynoed higher but had an issue so it dynoed a bit lower. They did some IP upgrades and should definitely be over 400hp.

As I said he's got irons in the fire....and the R n D is NOT his job its a full time HOBBY...so patience is a virtue if you want his stuff.

When I get the goods on the surprise I'll post it...

You can read all about things on FTE IIRC :sly however here it takes an OB member to post...no biggy we stay in touch.

I've had great service from him BTW.

Nice fab job!

Yes this has lots of nice fab work. If I were to improve on any of this fab work first off I would move the intake from the turbo forwards so all thats needed off the turbo is a 90 fitting. Plate off most of the original manifold inlet and redesign the aluminum elbow to come in at the end of the injection pump fuel inlet allowing enough working room. The those exhaust manifolds are a nice look but for me I would use a modified "Y" at cylinder 7 & 8. Just so ease the flow up into the turbo. The collector on the back of the turbo is really a great idea. Anyone know why the turbo is not wastegated? Or what size it is..Someone has been busy. So we wait for the real big news...-Drool:popcorn:popcorn

I don't think it's spec'd with a turbo per se but I think based on what I have read he has been working with the Borg Warner stuff. Looks like S200 and S300 series from his web page.

That box on the intake is designed that way on purpose, this allows very simple integration of an IC for an upgrade later as $$ and time permit, pop of plenum and insert IC piping! Oh the small ports/fittings on the plenum...ya H2O/**** :sly

Hope some whistles are getting wetted!

By the way....I would say the Big Huckin Fammer would be real cause for wood!

I was inspired by his design to make my design, wrap around the back of the engine and come in a split merge collector into the turbo. I too didnt really like how his ex manifold cyl 1-2 are fighting 3-4 in the flow direction to come out in the middle and down. But Im sure it is for ease of clearance and installation. Not sure if my setup would clear a stock body application, just barely clears my setup even though the body is moved back 2" or so on the frame. Im using his intake manifold too which greatly simplifies plumbing.

with his ex setup only thing id cahnge is to really focus on keeping all the exhaust coming out the back of the manifolds. everythign else looks super trick.

Iirc that is the reasoning for it. He wanted to clear everything without issue of installation.

With pressure driving a turbo the exhaust system scavenging is almost a moot point.
I have a scabbed together exhaust on the sandrail and it was seen by the turbo expert and he said just get the exhaust to the turbo without restrictions, there will be some reversion due to drive pressure anyway.

Our turbo exhaust is under pressure just like or intake is but at a different pressure and of course temp.

everyone has their own ways to fab,
personally, i would make a header design with all 4 tubes flowing to a collector.

i would love a set of header flanges!
