"State of California to cause death in excessive amounts"
I got the heck out after 70 yrs to save my health.

They have banned just about everything.
Newsom wants to run for president eventually,
wants to use Ca. as a model for the rest of the nation.

Later on, maybe 5 yrs ago, I needed to drop the T-19 out of my 86 F-250. No way was I going to use it.
I needed a larger Jack. Located a HF Trans jack on CL. Guy used it one time, and wanted it gone, gave me a great price. Think I paid $80.
Easy to use and very stable compared to the first one.

Must be a good one, has the Prop-65 endorsement. ;Really

That's the one that I have. Rated for 800 lbs. No way in hell I'd put 800# on it, but it was fine with the ZF-5.

I’ve posted this picture a couple times, but here’s my homemade “transmission jack”. I set it up so the zf5 could be bolted to the platform, and the underside is reinforced with 14 gauge steel. It did the job!

I had to rig up something like that on the little one I posted. The way the top plate is, hard to have the trans sit level, rise it up, and have it stay put w/o moving around.

Nice thing about the larger one, is the handle is down level and sort of swivels as I remember, making it easier to pump it up.

I have used a Floor jack before, but ya have to use what you have.

Just be safe with what ever you use.
Use a strap of some kind, don`t want one to fall over and come down on you. The T-19 is 150lbs.

Hey how long did the swap take you?
It’s a weekend job for the bulk items (column and pedal swap, trans, etc) and then the final fit and finish add some extra. Plan longer for your first time. Plan longer if your toolset and comfort with swapping drivetrain components is low. Another example is you need to be able to control the approach angle of the zf5. If your angle is off or you don’t have a way to control it (trans jack) you are in a toss up between being luck and it sliding right on or cursing and wiggling it for awhile.

I’ve got a trans jack from when I swapped my sprinter transmission out. Pulled it out of my parts van in an hour and took my time and did some other stuff..maybe a weekend to do the whole thing.
