I don’t see new ones of these in my headgasket kit, do I need them? Three of mine are ruined.

That is what positions the heads so I would say they are probably needed.

They're just guide pins, should be able to reuse them even if they're a little dinged up.

As for the precups, are they replaceable? I tried doing some Google fu on that last night, came up naught

This one is rather heavily damaged. I am used to them coming in headgasket kits and replacing them so I didn’t worry about them and removed them.

Oops, yeah I wouldn't reuse that one.

I have never tried to buy them before. I would think an engine machine shop would probably have some laying around though. If not I'm sure they would know where to get them.

I am doing exhaust side valve seals, I’m told they don’t last but maybe they will last at least awhile.

This is odd. It looks like there’s two old seals on this one.

What is this little thing I have found on a few of the valve stems?

This looks like the remains of an exhaust valve seal. I usually see this or nothing left on exhaust valves. That’s why if I don’t have them handy I just don’t put exhaust seals but if they come with the kit I do it cause it only takes a minute extra. On your other picture that’s doubled intake valve seals for whatever reason.

Oh oops I put all those little tiny things back on I wonder if it’s worth the effort to take them back off.
