More than 80 percent of the state’s highway money comes from gasoline taxes.
and they are doing this to try and save us money? I think not.

FWIW department. Truckers have been paying per mile additional fuel tax for years. In theory you write down your entry and exit point and mileage for each state you traveled through and pay according. Of course you also in theory bought enough fuel in each state to cover those reported miles.

not quite in oregon you pay a ton-mile tax depending on your plated gross weight which might be as high as 60 cents per mile & are required to send it in to the state every quarter wether you purchase any fuel in oregon or not. btw ore. is the highest fuel tax state for otr trucks at this time.
