Got to break out my grandfathers snap on 3/4” set, got the axles out, cleaned up the spindle and painted each side

Got the ball joints pressed out, came easy after I give them a wack with the air chisel with a blunt tip, gets it loose and makes it easy on the press. Cleaned up the knuckle and painted it up as well

You Texans and your rust-free metal...:frustrate

Looks like a lot of guys doing frame-offs lately. Subscribing!:Thumbs Up
I like to think of it more of a resto-mod. This truck was running and driving albeit poorly. With the c6 and old axles out and zf5 and the ‘03 axles going in this thing is getting a more modern touch.

Let's face it, when modern trucks require a frame-off just for basic engine maintenance, we still have it pretty easy keeping our old iron going. Adding overdrive, turbocharger, yep. That's what I call a "good start".

Rest of the axle is cleaned up and sprayed, did three coats so should hold up quite well. Waiting for it to dry then seals will be going in.

Both knuckles are cleaned up and painted, ready for new ball joints once they get here.

Pulled the rear tank, pressure washed the frame again, and wire wheeled it. The prep isn’t up to @laserjock standards but it’ll last and it looks pretty good for the time I have to spend on it. Gotta keep the ball rolling
