rebel w/o a cause
Took the truck to a local trans shop to figure out some issues that I have been having because I do not have tools nor time to pull the trans. problems were that the clutch was getting harder to push(not extrememly hard, just enough to notice) and there has been a squeeling coming from that area that stops as soon as any pressure was put on the clutch pedal.
little history- a clutch kit was put in the truck about 3-4 years ago(maybe 30,000 miles) because the dmf failed and I upgraded to a smf. when that clutch kit went in the fins on the old pressure plate from the dmf were bent irregularly, meaning that they were almost all different heights, when the tob was set on them only about 1/4 of them were touching it and the rest were bent down.
guy pulls the trans, calls and says I need a new clutch kit because the forks on this pressure plate are bent, I told him to let me come check it out and when I show up and place the tob across the fins of the pressure plate it is about 1/4 to 1/2 out of level compared to the surface of the pressure plate, but it is touching all of the fins so fins arent bent irregularly
question is what would cause this, the guy just wants me to throw another clutch kit at it and I cant see throwing expensive parts at it just to see if it happens again, seems to me something else must be wrong to cause this. I checked the sleeve that goes over the input shaft and the input shaft and none of them are scared or look irregular in any way.
