So Im in the middle of this dragged out hydroboost install and have encountered a problem with my P/S pump. on of the threads has cross threaded. I replaced the pump a year ago because 2 of the bolts just pulled out of the pump. the threads were wrapped around the bolt and the hole was smooth. Anyway I plan to chase the threads with a tap, but it seems like this aluminum pump has a weakness here.

Anybody have a thought as to what the best solution is? Does another body style have a more robust pump?

Hmm this sounds promising. where do you buy helicoil? Id like to get it locally instead of ordering it now and getting it next week in the mail

If I was in this situation I think I would just replace the pump- they're inexpensive enough to justify a new one when balanced against the pain in the ass-ness of doing a helicoil and the possibility (probability in my case) of not getting it set just right and having to get a new pump anyway... I know that's not the way a lot of folks here might see the situation, but I don't like dealing with stuff that's already halfway into failure mode when I bolt it up to my engine...

Yea I'm following you. That's why I know my pump wasn't alluminum. When I did MY hyrdoboost conversion. I had to swap tanks just like your doing.

I got some heliocoils from AZ and got the pump in. Now my problem is i snapped the dern bleeding screw off the right rear brake. time for a new thread
