It sure was a fine job. You guys did a fine job. Now you can do anything. I like the steps you have to get up higher so the chest isn't hurting so much. Next time set up a table. Any old hollow core door works fine. Even a used thrown out door will work better than the floor. The garage looks big enough that you didn't run out of laydown space. I'm really happy for everyone that this is down and behind us now. Good luck on the vacation and really know that you guys made some memories on this vacation..... Gary

The End...

Well I'm back at work today :puke: and the Lewis' left at lunchtime for the remainder of their family vacation in Myrtle Beach! ;Sweet We've now got a "Vacancy" in the side yard campground! The PAFixit truck sounds good and smooth. There's still is an issue with sporadic intermittent rough idle which we are hoping is garbage that may have gotten into the injectors. Note to self - when tearing into an engine take duct tape and tape over the injectors! cookoo At high rpm and running down the highway she's as smooth as can be. As a matter of fact Joe said it felt better than it had in a long time! Thanks again to everyone!! This is truly a great group!! :hail

I only have one question, in the midst of all this when did you have time to run a 30 amp service for the camper? LOL

I just want to add my AT'A BOYS to this, like days of by-gone years when people helped others out of 'dire straights'. Just think what it would have cost if the job had been done in a pay shop, BIG BUCKS

Eric was check out at 11 or 2 at the boutin resort camp ground. And do we need reservations to camp :rotflmao :D

Your camp site looks alot nicer than ours. We may use it one weekend to come visit yall.

Well it was Monday night actually, we had picked up all the parts we could and were waiting for the others via Fed Ex and UPS. At the time we thought we were just replacing two push rods. The PAFixit Camper kept popping my 20 amp breaker...it was hot here; so while we had alittle down time - Joe says "Hey lets just run 30 amp service out here and be done with it!" Joe knows his stuff when it comes to home repair stuff.

I'm not sure if Joe would appreciate me posting this or not, but the power of the Force lies within us, and he needs to draw on it for strength. The PAFixIt truck pushed a push rod out through the valve cover on #5 cylinder, and is currently at the Eric Boutin home being worked on. Not many details to give you at this point, but if you keep him in your prayers, it would be a good thing. As if loosing a trailer wheel were not enough.

I just saw this message. Looks like things have been taken care of.

Is there a directory of IDI folks (and former IDI folks) willing to help each other out? How can I be added?

We have space for a large trailer as well as a guest house if anyone finds themselves on the road with technical difficulties or just in need of a place to stay overnight. We're outside of Columbia, 521 South off I-20, heading toward Sumter.

You IDI folks are awesome, and I'll be happy to stay in the fold as best I can--even if I'm driving a goat.

UGH....

Well I got a question for everyone...I just talked to Joe and they just arrived in Myrtle Beach. The intermittent rough running has gotten alittle more frequent he says. He also said his oil pressure was alittle lower than before...around 20 to 25 lbs then would go up to the normal 30 to 35. He said it's real bizzare cuz it pretty much runs smooth and beautiful at speed and high RPM. He said it only hiccupped a couple times at speed. He said at times he had to rev above 1200 rpm at lights and such. Then other times it's as smooth as can be at idle. As a matter of fact when he called they were emptying their tanks at the campground (need to find that Septic cover here at the side yard :Sly ) before they went to their site and he left it idleing and he said it was smooth and purring like a kitten??!! There are no leaks of any kind and he didn't burn any oil or coolant on the way down. He does think it was blowing puffs of gray smoke as he called it (also intermittently) but blew the normal black up hills and such.
So what do ya'll think? Could this still possibly be trash in the injectors? Or maybe a timing issue? When we put the pump back on we put it exactly where it was; using an "O" stamp like Mel suggested. Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated cuz knowing Joe he won't enjoy the beach for worrying about this.
Thanks again everybody!

Eric, the intermittent problem will be tough to track down. I know a couple of the injectors got moved around, and as you said there is a chance of dirt getting into them. I have a spare set of injectors that I could send to Joe if he wants to replace them all to rule this possibility out. The likelyhood that it is a pump issue is very remote. As for the lower oil presure, is this coincidental with the rough running? If the oil presure drops, and then it runs rough, and then the oil pressure returns, and it clears up, that scares me a tad. Sort of sounds like a lifter collapsing some and then pumping back up, but you guys are the experts on what that sounds like!
