Oldbull... No, the oil pump does not have a built in control valve in it. All the pump does is push oil thru the engine. The pressure regulater is hidden behind the rear cooler header and its stacked in the aluminum housing. Its tuff to remove without doing a lot of damage to the housing. Its actually a three piece valce. Its true that you can't see the bypass vlave spring because of how its designed. And its true that dirty oil is better than no oil going thru the engine.
