Going to pick them up now, these filters will hold a extra quart right?. So I'm looking at a 12 quart oil change.

If you have to buy one retail price, go for the Motorcraft FL1995. For 7.3 powerstrokes, works fine on IDIs.

Oil change capacity should be 11 quarts with a 7.3 PSD filter.

Still better than FRAM...

Actually Fram has turned things around and will acknowledge that they once had a problem.

Purolator on the other hand has continued to make shoty filters. Several guys on Bob is the oil guy have sent emails to purolator with no response.

Purolator also makes most of the motorcraft filters. This quality control issue has also shown up in the motorcraft filters. I have seen it first hand and will no longer run any purolator or motorcraft filters on my vehicles.

I understood the FL1995 was a fleetguard product? when did that change?
i've been using the FL1995 since they came out........ easy to remember .

I'll start using the Baldwin or Wix filters we stock in the shop instead.

I usually run Hastings filters. I see a conversation like this one start often over one product being better than another and in some cases there is a major difference. With auto parts i see this debate never ending, i don't know how much I can get worked up about brands when they are either made in the same factory or china or just by under paid workers who just want to go home. It's a sham to think this but i See it first hand working in the auto industry. I have always used Hastings filters but at this point i think I'll give these rotella a go.

I got one for next time. I had already bought an FL1995 a couple months ago for the change I did last week.

No, 11 in an IDI with the 7.3PSD filters. Normal capacity in an IDI is 10.

Oh and always I prefill my oil filter. That sucker absorbs probably two quarts! You fill it, it drops in level. You have to do that many times before it stops. There’s no way I’d want to start with a dry filter.
