This appears every filter with that thread size. Good info here.

If that's accurate, the Motorcraft filter has a better micron rating than the Wix. The 'absolute efficiency' column is Beta 75 (that's what 98.7% efficient translates to), so now compare the 18 micron rating of the Motorcraft to the Wix's 30 micron at the same Beta.

Based on this, looks like the micron rating in that link is accurate for the Motorcraft:

The OEM FL-1995 measures 4.25 OD. The Donaldson ELF7405 (OD: 4.65) crosses to a Baldwin B7249-MPG, Fleetguard LF3566, WIX 51792XE, and a Cat 1R0716 all of which measure 5.3+" OD. It's said from the powerstroke world that the Donaldson ELF7405 will fit those engines so I'm sure it would fit an IDI. The others that are comparable mentioned before I think would be too large in diameter to clear the oil pan. The only way to know would be to try one. So far it appears that the Donaldson ELF7405 is the best filter out there that will fit. At least by its specs.

I just tried a motorcraft 1995 in my 93 f-250 and it will not fit, there's not enough clearance between the oil pan and the cross member.

That's what I used on my 90 and 92 IDI, don't know why your's don't fit, they all have the same oil cooler. Why is your's different?
