hoping someone can spread some knowledge on me.

my brick nose now has everything from a 96 OBS.

i have a 1 connector(6 pin) wiper motor.

corresponding module, and OBS wiper switch.

the 2 issues i have is,

1) wipers do not park.

2) when i hit the bug juice, the wipers will continue to cycle, and will do so until power is cut from the circuit.

i have all wires hooked up.

does the wiper motor case need to be grounded?
the motor has a ground.

black and pink does throw some power to the wiper when shut off.
ive seen 6V

perhaps i should replace the module?

thoughts?

No change on grounding the case.
I also only have low speed and high speed, but not the intermittent delay

Here is the 96 wiper motor

So it's one of the fancy ones that run the wipers when you squirt? It smells like a ground problem on the park switch looking at the diagram. Looks like if the park switch isn't grounded the wipers might keep running after a squirt and not park when not in use. :dunno

If your problems still exist after trying the above suggestions and you decide to replace the wiper control module, try popping the old wiper control module apart and check the solder connections on the circuit board. If they are cracked, you may re-solder them and see if that fixes your problems. It seems to be more common for solder connections to develop cracks or tin whisker shorts ever since the EPA mandated the removal of lead from solder.

The module has ground to the proper places.
I suspect the above.
I'll try to open it up. May try to steal the one out of my 94 and see if it works

just tried the other module i have.
im beginning to suspect the wiper motor.
ive ran the wiring diagram 15 million times.
added extra grounds.
the black /pink wire gets a shot of 12V when turns to off, but i dont think it should be seeing 12V
the green wire is 12V and black is ground..
would seem that black/pink shouldnt see any voltage???:dunno

Looks like the black pink would see 12v (from the acc. Key on ) when not in the park position. Going to the park position would seem to pull it to ground so if that wire is never going to ground, the park switch may be bad.

The park switch in the motor. At least that's where it looks like it is from the diagram. I've never messed with one of those specifically. Just what I gleaned from the diagram.

Does the black wire have ground all the time? How about the Y/R? When you turn the wipers on low or intermittent the module will send power down the DB/O for a second, once the motor starts to move the park switch moves to run, at this point the park switch is supplying the power to the motor (yes it still goes through the control module but ignore that for now) as the motor completes a full rev the park switch will go back to ground instantly stopping the motor. If the ground is missing the motor won't stop fast enough and can shoot past the park position restarting the cycle.

Hope this makes sense but start with checking that black wire or just adding another ground to that wire.

Also it's possible the park switch is defective and never making contact internally to ground.

as stated and illustrated, the park switch is in the wiper motor itself.
i tried the wiper motor off the 96 and had the same outcome.
ill try these suggestions tomorrow.

they work, but i have to "park" them... PITA
but the real ****** is the squirt feature, the wipers will continuously cycle.

the ground is a complete ground, right to the cab.
both blacks are tied together and grounded to the kick panel.

this is a 96 system in a 87, with an aftermarket wiring harness, if ya didnt catch it.
so its all independent.

Park control is under plastic cover on gear box...there should be 3 fingers contacting the gear iirc to actuate park....havent looked in years.
