About a week ago my brothers truck died on my dad while driving it. After a few minutes I determined there was no power reaching the ips fss. Can someone tell me why everything else ignition switched would work but the fss?

Have you checked the harness connector near the valve cover?
Also the 88 I had, had a bare wire that was shorting out on my. Wasn't enough to blow the fuse, but it would let the FSS close.

I did check that connector, nothing appeared out of the ordinary except there not being power to the terminal for the fss. I'm dreading that you're right and it's a wire somewhere in the circuit.

Hello Sean.. Good to see you still part of this forum. My best guess is the ignition switch under the dash is staring to fail. They are not expensive but they are plenty difficult to install. And to then find out thats not the problem adds insult to all this. Can't add much more to the problem.

If it's the 83 and still has the OEM GP controller, it might be that.

Damn computer went crazy for a couple of hours.

Here is the early OEM controller circuit.
