I've found the best thing ever to get gooey stuff off is good old gasoline.
Need help/ideas on removing side trim - Anybody having the same problems as me?

I bit the bullet and bought the 3M trim eraser. It worked great on removing the adhesive padding part, but it removed the chalky old paint. oh well, paint was always on the list of things to do...
I doesn't help the previous owner probably mudded the truck and then never washed the mud off to sink into the paint under the trim and leave all that crap behind...
