Need a new motor....suggestions?

I have a 93 idi with a sidewinder on it that most likely has a cracked piston. If I try to get a new crate motor whats going to be the best? Should I get a factory ford turbodiesel or get a regular na and put a sidewinder on it? I dont mind puting some money to good use on it but I will be having it done professionally so price is a consideration.

Checkout the Promar engines. Some OB members have got them. I've had mine for four+ years now and am very pleased with it. Also check this out about the 7.3.

Thanks for the links. How long did it take to get the promar. Did u get the turbo one? How many miles so far

Not the turbo engine, just the NA. Loaned the 90 truck to my nephew a year ago, gotta get it back from Michigan. He's beating the hell out of it cutting and hauling wood for his wood furnace. Loads the box and pulls a trailer, God only knows how much weight. But the engine is doing just fine. Milage????. He runs 80 mile round trip.

They ship UPS in a container all wrapped up, you return the same way. You have to have some way to unload and load it, or pick it up at the UPS dock. Prolly take five days NJ to Calif.
