Mpg is way down

The fuel pumps (at the station) are not always accurate. I had been noticing crappy mpg for awhile, and accidentally ran my front tank very close to empty. When I filled up at this same pump that I always used, I got almost 26 gallons in my front tank. I explained to the owner of the station that it wasnt possible to get that much fuel in that tank, He told me that they are calibrated every so often (blah blah blah), and wasnt possible for them to be inaccurate. They very next time I fueled up, my mpg improved.

Ca is very strict about fuel and fuel measurements. The fines are huge if a station is caught with a pump out of calibration. They check them monthly atleast.

That is what is station owner told me also, but.....some how things were off.
I also was told that they replaced the filters at the pumps monthly, and after staring at the same faded filter for a couple years, I pointed out that that obviously wasnt true, and the VERY next day there was a new filter at the pump (with a big smiley face drawn on it).

Maybe I am just lucky,to see these rare cases...I have also gotten gasoline from a DIESEL pump/nozzle.

that'll work for me! thanks! yeah this is what i suspect has happened to mine in chip truck.
i'v got my oem however that'll i'l send to ya (probably in better shape anyway w/ approx 70k miles on it) for a bull moose upgrade/reman.

thank the maker a bull moose is on it's way.

you should have seen log truck today too.she kept blowing smoke at me and her EGT gauge got me to pucker up a couple times with a full load of wood/brush today.i kept loosing the stupid intercooler pipe out of my intake! i bought some aluminum pipe.enough for both trucks.iv got to take my pressure chambers in to the local welder and have these fixed up before i burn log trucks engine to the ground......nah i was careful enough thanks to the gauge.i had to bungee the pipe up though.

did you order an ip/injectors Chris? she wont get any better by herself.

You made the decision easier for me. My pump is getting pretty bad heat soak hot starts and it's time.

Ill have to save up for that. I turned the fuel down last night.ill ck my mpg again soon

I learned a neat trick some years back about intercooler pipe connections to rubber collars. Spray some hair spray on the connections and then press them together and clamp them. Then as the hair spray drys it creates a cemented seal and the rubber collars wont blow of any longer. Sad park is you will have plenty of trouble removing a connection if that needs to be in the future.

Power seems the same after turning the fuel down.much less black smoke for sure.still smokes. A little if i hammer down.so far um 190 miles into this tank.hope to fill it later when im closer to home and cheaper fuel

bull moose ip + hypermax SPL = success.

in my searches here,i have something to say to all those who claimed; "i can control the smoke with my foot.i don't need the SPL".
no.no you can't.not like this this little sucker can.........not even close.

now not only do i have (considerably) more power than i ever have but i have increased economy to boot.
i can't thank conestoga diesel injection enough.it's very cool to have a 8k lb empty dually pulling hard uphill,smoke free in OD with 3.84 effective gearing lol.
just need to keep an eye on the EGT gauge.all dialed in though,i can work her pretty hard without much concern.i think i'll try bumping timing back from 8 to 7BTDC to see how the EGT gauge responds when loaded.
