got my new carter pump the other day and this morning in began the swap. so far everything is going good. went to oriley's to get a new peice of fuel hose. i got 3/8" multi-fuel rated hose made by gates. same exact length. get back home and start the install. got the new pump in and mounted to the block. now i go to bend the new hose to roughly the same coontour of the old one and the new hose starts to flatten out and almost kink when i start to bend it. i can bend the old hose however i want and it holds its shape.

Did i get the wrong type of hose?

It's been my experience they roll this new hose tightly on a roll, so tight that it's not round. When you go to use it, it flattens out way too easy. You might try spinning the hose a certain way, but that might not work either.

Yep, the correct hose for any application says "Parker" on the layline :D

It is very common for fuel hose to be flattened by having it too tight on the reel. just rotate it the hose and make sure that it's not kinked and you'll be fine.

Just an FYI: the Parker biodiesel rated barrier style fuel hoses have an incredible amount of hoop strength, which makes it very resistant to kinking. Yes, my sales pitch is now over.....

thanks for the info. i have tried a number of different configurations and nothing has yeilded me a kink-free route. i will stop by car quest tuesday and see if they have stuff that won't kink. if not then i will use the old hose. it is actually in decent shape. it is still flexible and soft. i can always get some new stuff later.
