low boost numbers

so im running around tearing my hair out with this engine.. just the other week i was pushing the truck and hooning around and i was able to reach 28 pounds of boost. now this week i put my foot to the floor to pass a car and all my gauge read was 7-8 pounds i checked the rubber ring in between the turbo and the intake y pipe and the silicone couplers are tight im just confused on what else it could be

Me thinks your gauge is bad.
Stock injectors and tuning, you won't hit 28....
