I just cut the hard line with a tubing cutter. Use the piece that screws into the lift pump, and put a piece of rubber on it.
The filter side can be kept or removed - if you remove both brass pieces from the fuel filter, it's a NPT thread. Just get a hose barb and use that.
On the lift pump side, I'm not sure quite what the thread/fitting is, but I know that it's *possible* to find a brass thread-to-hose barb adapter, because one of my trucks came with one... but I can't point you to any parts.
