Done some research and looked at old posts but still curious.
What would a 7.3 idi make with-- head studs, turbo, moose ip, and some type of aftermarket injectors.
Hopefully I can find a turbo kit to kick this off
Also lookin at a pyro so I cab turn up my stock ip

200-215 HP and 450ish ft lbs of torque would be my guess.yes it would be a vast improvement over a stock IDI.

the graphs in the first post are from heaths black truck with a banks turbo, wastegate plugged, and graphs say what kind of injectors/ip he was using at the time

You can also look at the dyno graphs that were posted from last years rally and the mods to those vehicles as well

no you shouldnt

All the factory trans that are found in the idi will handle the typ4 cam easily. Even the stock head bolts will handle it but insurance is why most of us install ARP head studs. Why take chances with a head gasket when you can make sure they will stay inplace...

How much boost are you wanting to run and what are you power goals like redneckaggie asked? Also if you want a bit more power out of it, you can add either water/methanol or propane into the mix too. There is a guy over at TDS that dynoed at close to 300hp/500tq with a Moose Pump and BB injectors and propane. If you want any more power than that you will need more fuel. 120cc of fuel will get you roughly 300/600 to the rear wheels on fuel only. Also what other mods do you have planned?

I have actually seen some stock fuel system and stock cam trucks dyno at this level. With his cam, Typ4 dynoed at 218/461. That is some pretty good low end grunt. Also if he wants a bit more power, I would definitely go with an upgraded injector...

As far as the tranny I'm sound. It's a built tranny I ordered and suposobluly good up too 800hp
Other mods idk yet. For sure this is going to be my basics. With the job I have now it'll be kind of slow and I'm buying my first house so it'll be a tight budget but once I get my house and switch jobs i should have enough in one paycheck to build this

Any opinions on turbo kits?? I like the side winder but do any of the others make a difference?

The Banks sidewinder is a mistubishi turbo. They can be rebuilt but parts are not the easist to find. The factory is no help either nor is Banks. If you call japan you better have a part number because they wont tell you what the number is. They wil only sell you a part if you tell them the number... Crappy way of doing business if you ask me. I found this out 6 years ago rebuilding my spare Banks turbo... Kinda pissed me off finding this out. These are older engines and some of the turbos are not supported much anymore. All the wstegated turbos from the big three are about the same for hp gains. Banks sells the most complete turbo there is of any of the big three. All you need is a truck to install it in. There is nothing else you need to buy either if you buy Banks.

That's 210 - 225 HORSEPOWER and 400+ Ft. lbs of torque....not 400 + horsepower

No, you won't jump from 218 horsepower to 400+ HORSEPOWER...that 400+ means torque. That is also measured at the rear wheels on a mustang (?) dyno

That C6 you have there is basically bomb proof. Keep the fluid changed, and the shift module adjusted properly and that transmission will take whatever you throw at it. If it DOES blow, a haynes manual, and hand tools will rebuild it.

Sorry I didn't add the hp and ft. most people who knows cars or trucks should know hp is first then torque after. It reads 210-225hp and 225 would be on his best day ever and 400+ torque you never know tell its dyno for sure. As things could not be operating correctly or fully. idi only makes around 140 at rear wheels stock n/a. I've read the hp ratings and ft. ratings from others sig thats how you will know or have an idea of what power you will make.
