Knocking engine

@KansasIDI I'm not sure what all you have done so far but if I were trying to diagnose it. I would start with a compression check. Depending on what that shows pull the valve covers and see whats going on with the valve train.

So I went to go start my Ford to move it, and it started up and ran for a little bit, but soon died like someone had turned off the key. Was getting power to the shut off solenoid, but I figured it must’ve just been dumped up. I had that issue right when I got the truck. I took the top of the injection pump off and turns out that it is half full of diesel and the other half full of metal shavings. That might be my issue.

Do you think that is causing my misfire? An injector(s) clogged with metal?

Yes but it doesn't explain the chuffing noise.

Turns out my injection pump has a hard spot that when you rotate through it it makes kind of Beck, grinding, chuffing noise with a click
