Jerry rigged hood release ideas?

Hey all,

My hood release decided to break at the cab handle, any suggestions on how to jerry rig it so I can get my hood open until I can get parts for it?

On my 1992, there was literally no back on the under hood hood latch mechanism. You could literally reach through the grill with your hand, feel the cable end/actuator, and push on it to open the hood. It was actually pretty handy as I always hid my spare key under the hood so I could literally never get stranded.

My Powerstoke has a different latch housing than my 1992, and I see your truck is a brick nose, so none of this may apply, but if you have a little inspection mirror it might be worth taking a look through the grill to see if the latch mechanism is "exposed".

Clamp the cable sheath down in the engine bay and remove the plastic mounting bracket for the hood release and it will work like factory
