Is this Intercooler too small?

This IC just fell into my lap, I haven't been planning on installing an IC in the near future, and I really don't want to do one right now during the makeover just because of the other projects that are happenig.

However I guess I would consider it....

This came off a Dodge/ Mercedies Sprinter van, the dimensions are
26" X 10" with 2 1/4" inlet's and outlet's

I am thinking that it is too small and too restrictive to be of any value.

What do you think,...?

that's a hair smaller than my ATS unit. if you can plumb it, run it. IC's themselves are not cheap so if you got that one cheap, use it!

darrin fwiw my psd IC is ~19"h x 33"w x 2 1/2" thick with 3" inlet and outlet. you have the same displacement engine as i do and even though you run lower boost pressure that IC you have may not flow enough CFMs. though that's just my uneducated guess.

Mine is a guess too but I think that is enough for an IDI. Also You may want to look at Rob (f350camper) pics he mounted He's IC a bit lower to leave the rad alone and I know your truck is lifted too.

If you dont use it I would put it on my 300sd, seriously it should be fine for a while, some cooling is better than none and that unit is very efficient, we have a sprinter at work and I was eyballing it before I got my 04 ps cooler from ebay.

It's fine, run it. Would be nice to have a larger
inlet and outlet, but other than that, it's fine.
Good price man, free is always best.
That's not much smaller than the one I'm running,
and I'm pushing a lot more than 10lbs of boost through it.
A larger one would hold the air in it for a longer period
of time which would allow it more time to cool, but,
who cares, some is better than none. And the price.

Hey Towcat, What are the inlet and outlet demensions? I guess I am worried about that the most. It looks to be pretty restrictive compared to a PSD unit with 3" outlets. Like Rob said, not enough CFM's

As far as Cheap or Free, It would cost me $50.00 if I wanted to buy it and I have plenty of time to decide, and plan out the install. The problem is that I have the big Banks Box, so I would have to completely redo the whole intake system. It would also screw up a project that I just did on the truck this week, (to be revealed at a later date :Sly )

So for now I will sit on it and do a little more reaserch on it, and stand in front of the truck with the hood up scratching my head, and see what is feesable.

I do know one thing, It looks good just sitting there in front of the rad, and it would be an easy physical install, and getting the piping to it, the tough part is redoing the Banks Box,...

The body work is going very well, but a little slower than I wanted, but that is ok because it is getting done right. I will post an update in the next couple of days.

i'd say the openings are no bigger than 2.5in. ATS chose to keep the dia roughly the same as the turbo outlet. Only thing I can think of is to keep the volume and velocity the same to keep the turbo lag from becoming a major issue. right now, for me there is no lag issue compared to my Buick GN from years back. here's a repost pic from my pluming layout on the truck.
