I cant believe it! I found out that GV makes a kit for use on my 1356 transfer case, where it utilizes a short shaft by replacing the tail housing of the 1356!
So now here's the question. Is it even possible to run a GV on a single cab F350? Or does it make the orientation of the drive shaft impossible??? :dunno

it would be tight but i think it will work alright. maybe you will have to lower your tailshaft a little though

Wow Mel, I guess I didnt even know you had a gear vendors on that thing! Sweet.
How did you get a 1356 in that truck? I thought all T19 trucks came with the 1345?

What rear gear do you have?

Mine would be an overdrive overdrive lol with the ZF transmission so maybe I could break mine into the 20mpg range! That'd be sweet.

Im not even entirely clear in what it does, all i know is that it gives one heck of an over drive.
Im just not certain as how it works. I've heard it gives you 9 or 10 speeds with a ZF5 speed, and thats all I care about. lol
Hopefully Calvin or Mel chime in and give us the run down on how they work.

it is like a gear splitter for the big trucks. it gives you a high and low. so you are getting double gears and a double overdrive if you have a zf5 or e40d.

sean-
you have a few questions that I need to catch up on.
first-
the only way for a GV to work on a BW1345, is you will need the rear case half off a BW1356. the adapter for the GV bolts right on the case where the tailcone used to go to.
second-
you will need to be very careful of your driveline angles with the GV mounted on the reg cab frame.
third-
a GV is not very effective below 35mph. In fact, it likes to commit suicide if you do run it below that speed. The friction material on the cone clutch inside is very fragile. Don't ask me how I know this, just know I've taken one of these apart already:eek:
lastly-
I've recently run across a couple of minor variations of BW transfer cases recently, I'm going to be posting them in another thread shortly.

I have about 10 t-cases here of varying types if you need pics or info. I have five BW1356's in 3 different configurations, two NP208F's, two divorced NP205's and a NP203.

Just to confirm what Calvin stated. The GV kit for the 1345 includes their version of what is basically a 1356 case half, which replaces the rear case half on the 1345. A Gear Vendors is a 21% overdrive transmission, with an electric over hydraulic control. Depending on the rear axle ratio, they cannot be used below certain speeds. On the Moose Truck it is 17 MPH and on the Lady Moose it is around 10 MPH. The reason you would want one of these is because there is no such thing as a 2 speed rear for our trucks, and to swap axles to one big enough for a 2 speed rear to be available on, you'd have to make a ton of other changes.

Sean, you should read peoples signiture lines some. LOL ;Sweet

I wouldn't say the OD is dramatic, it's 22% final OD. They work by giving you a "half gear" between each of your current ratios in addition to a 22% OD in top gear. Their main purpose is to keep the motor in its prime rpm range when pulling weight by giving you the correct gear ratio to do that. The OD is a perk.
